“Lucin CL” Hard Red Winter Wheat  Seed Availability PVP to be Applied For
Lucin CL is a new variety released by USU in June, 2010. USU has, in cooperation with BASF, developed Imidazolinone (i.e. Beyond,® Clearmax® ) herbicide tolerant wheat to control tough grass and broadleaf weeds (i.e. jointed goatgrass, brome, wild oats, kochia, etc..) The CLEARFIELD trait is a novel, non-genetically modified (Non-GMO) crop herbicide tolerance technology. Seed is only available from an authorized CLEARFIELD® wheat seed retailer. Growers should refer to the BASF “CLEARFIELD® Wheat Stewardship Guide” for information regarding stewardship practices. It has excellent grain production and acceptable milling quality.
     
“Curlew” Hard Red Winter Wheat Seed Availability  
 “Curlew” is a new variety released by USU in June, 2010. The variety is resistance to new races of Dwarf Bunt (Tilletia controversa) and has excellent grain production and acceptable milling quality. Curlew performs well in high altitude dryland production systems.
     
“Golden Spike” Hard White Wheat Seed Availability PVP 200100033
Golden Spike is an awned, brown-chaffed, hard white winter wheat. The wheat exhibits excellent resistance to current prevalent races of dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) and common bunt (Tilletia tritici). It is moderately resistant to snow mold but susceptible to strip rust (Puccinia graminis) and moderately susceptible to damage by Russian wheat aphid (Diuaphis noxia) and cereal leaf beetle (Oulema melanopa). It has an erect, twisted flag leaf with an elliptical seed with mid-wide, mid-deep seed crease and a fawn phenol reaction. The heading date is similar to Hansel but 15 cm shorter than Hansel. The typical growing height is 78 cm in dryland crop-fallow environments. It has excellent grain production and acceptable milling quality.
     
Promontory Wheat Seed Availability PVP 9100244
Promontory wheat is a hard red winter wheat with medium height that is awned and bronze-chaffed. It is highly resistant to dwarf smut. It is about 1cm shorter and heads 3 days earlier than Manning. The maturity color is dark bronze. The flag leaf is erect and tillers are semi-erect during juvenile growth . The plant is blue green at booting. The head is more lax than Manning with glumes of medium length and width. It has seed ovate with medium length brush and a medium wide and medium deep seed crease. Promontory has excellent grain production and acceptable milling quality.
     
Garland Wheat Seed Availability PVP 9400178
Garland Wheat is a hard red winter wheat that is awned and semi-dwarf. Garland has excellent grain production and acceptable milling quality. Garland experiences semi-erect juvenile growth . It is 12cm shorter than Nugaines and 1.5cm shorter than Ute, but it has the same heading date as Ute. The color is chaff tan at maturity compared to bronze chaff of Ute. The internodes are hollow, and the flag leaf is recurved. The plant is green at boot growth stage. The head is dense with glumes of short length and wide width. It has seed ovate with medium length brush and narrow, medium deep seed crease.
